Neal Morgan gave SEDAC Energy Management a simple project brief, namely “Sales & profitability are well down due to economic factors beyond our control so we must find ways to significantly reduce the cost of doing business. Electricity is one of our largest expenses so it makes sense to focus on ways to reduce consumption – as a matter of urgency”
Nine months later and the savings results are still delivering a 15% decrease in total consumption. The Meadow Heights site had air conditioning maintenance issues which resulted in a new AC unit being commissioned increasing the sites energy consumption by 5%. This improved the retail environment dramatically however it slightly decreased the initial savings achieved.
The Meadow Heights IGA has completed SEDAC EM’s Stage 1 achieving a 15% reduction and ensuring the site is efficient as possible with the existing assets. Stage 2 is in the pipeline where further reductions are achieved by improving control and capital plant and equipment.
